Durabar™ is a Composite Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer (FRP) bar for the reinforcement of concrete in construction. It is used as a substitute for steel reinforcement bars. It is 2x the tensile strength of steel, for the same diameter and only 1/4 of the weight. Non-corrosive & Non-conductive Durabar™ does not corrode and has a high resistance to chlorides and alkali. It is also suited to environments exposed to water, salt and humidity. Being non-conductive it is an effective solution for high voltage currents and magnetic fields. The lighter weight of Durabar™ means reduced labour costs/hr as well as reduction in overall reinforcement bar installation cost rate/ton. Customers on average benefit from double figures project life cycle savings besides additional gains from greatly reduced annual maintenance. Design Optimisation Durabar™ Bond Strength of 10MPa allows for shorter lapping lengths which saves on usage/wastage. Steel bars can be replaced by Durabar™ 2mm smaller in diameter, without compromising the tensile load performance.
